The cushion is slightly warm to the touch, and very soft. You're not sure whether these cushions are really covered with velvet or just some remarkable facsimile, but they sure do feel like velvet. The cushion is very flexible, too. It moves under gentle pressure, as though filled with fine sand or perhaps a thick liquid. As you release it, it very gradually moves back to its original shape.
