Icarus
Robert Geraghty

Afraid of the height
We cling to the fragile structure
Of our lives
Trying to build it higher
But knowing
The pieces might not hold
Straining against
The winds of change
Threatening
To make us fall

Perhaps
If we spread our wings
Trusting
Those same winds
Would lift us free
To fly higher
Than we could ever climb
